March 2006 Update

The new year is off and running. I started off the year by hurting my shoulder New Years Eve on stand by at work. I have not been back to work since the Doc says I will need surgery. I ripped the cartilage in my AC joint and of course it is on my right side so I can't do much. So… until that happens I will be playing crew chief barking out the orders (Poor Crew) and Paul will drive. I am so jealous!
We got the car done and made it to our first race. We had our teething problems on Friday and Saturday but we worked together and got it done for a Sunday morning run that was a good one.
Started the race in sixth place… got up in to third in the first lap… ran down second in about twenty… and by the time the first hour was up we were over a lap in front of second. Then it started to rain. We came in filled it up with fuel and changed to rain tires. We had to fix the accumulator that had come lose and got Paul back out in about fourth. He was running in the rain as fast as on slicks (thanks to Irish at Hoosier) which was awesome allowing him to undo laps lost in the pits and to lap cars at will. In the end we finished second after losing over ten minutes in the pits. It was a great day for all!

The car came in at around 2000 lbs , 80 inches wide , 102 inch wheel base, 3 inches off the ground , roll centers to die for , low center of gravity , motor back about three feet behind the ball joint , straight cut gear box , big brakes and suspension geometry that should make it very fast. It will look different than every one else because it looks like an asphalt modified but I never wanted to be like everyone else anyway. I think everyone else will have to fight for second place because we will be gone.

I want to thank everyone in my family and on the crew for putting up with me. All of you have been my right arm and have kept an eye on me so I don't hurt it any worse. Like I said earlier in the weekend, it feels great to be such a jerk and have so many good people love you. Once again wishing you and yours all the best this world has to offer. I look forward to seeing you at the track!

  Be Good,
